Objectives

Upon Completion of this course the student will;

Be familiar with the physical size, including dimensions and clearances required when taxiing the Boeing 737 aircraft.

Be aware of the hazards that exist when working on or around the 737 engines while they are running.

Understand the CFM56 engine operational limitations. Understand the general requirements to prepare the aircraft, engines and the surrounding area before an engine run is attempted.

Know how to perform a pre run/taxi external walk around check. Know how to perform a flight deck prep check using the checklist.

Understand procedures for both wet and dry motoring of the engine.

Understand the proper procedure to perform normal engine starts using the appropriate checklists. Understand normal shutdown procedures and checklists.

Be able to identify abnormal conditions and handle them properly.

Understand taxiing procedures including parking and securing the aircraft.

Understand the procedures for performing high power engine runs. Understand procedures and checklists for how to evacuate the aircraft in an emergency.

And finally, understand the extra precautions required during cold weather operations.
